What is the “Danish System”? (Used for judging in most Junior departments.)
You are likely familiar with the “Peer System” or “American System” which primarily uses the idea of competition between exhibitors, pitting one exhibitor against another. (Much like in the Olympics, there can only be one Gold, Silver, and Bronze.)

In the “Group System” or “Danish System” exhibitors are measured against a specific set of standards, not ranked against other exhibitors. This allows our youth to improve their project skills by helping them recognize their own efforts and develop standards for the future while encouraging them to continue with their hobbies.

ALL entries in North Haven Fair classes judged under the danish system will be awarded a ribbon (first, second, or third) based solely on their skill level for their age, regardless of any other entries, so long as they have followed the basic rules of the class.
